Giving mood
Los Angeles goalie Jonathan Quick has given up a combined nine goals in his last three starts but earned a 3-0 win in Montreal on Dec. 17 for his second shutout of the season.

“We’ve given up a lot of goals these last couple of games,” forward Tyler Toffoli said. “That’s not our type of hockey. We need to find a way back to shutting things down. We need to refocus.”

Los Angeles hasn’t lost three straight since its 0-3-0 start but is 1-2-1 in its last four road games. That may be especially bad news given that the Coyotes are 7-1-1 in their last nine at home.

Shane’s world
Coyotes’ captain Shane Doan scored twice in Tuesday’s victory to raise his career goal total to 376, three shy of pulling even with Dale Hawerchuk for first place on the franchise list.

Doan generally heats up around this time of the season.

“I have had five or six goals going into Christmas quite a few years in a row and I end up getting better in the second half,” Doan said. “Hopefully it can continue.”

Arizona hopes to have Martin Hanzal and defenseman Zbynek Michalek back in the lineup after both missed Tuesday’s contest with lower-body injuries.

Trends
Los Angeles is:

1-4 in their last five overall against the NHL odds.

1-5 in their last six trips to Arizona

4-1-3 Under in their last eight road games

Betting Analysis
