Sunday is a light day for NHL betting as there are only three games on the card. We’ve got a rundown of all three games for you with analysis and predictions on each one.

Boston Bruins @ Chicago Blackhawks

This game is going to be an early start at 12:30 PM ET, so make sure you’re not sleeping in too late after partying last night or you’ll miss puck drop.

In this one, the over is the play that makes sense for your NHL picks. When you look at the sides, it’s hard to go with either team. Both teams had been struggling over the last couple of weeks but enter this matchup as winners of two of their last three games.

The Blackhawks have been costing bettors left, right and center, as they’ve had some ugly home losses recently (three times as a favorite of -170 or more in the last couple of weeks) that’s been pretty painful. This has definitely been their worst stretch of hockey not only this year but maybe in the last two seasons. Do you want to lay this type of juice knowing that?

As for the Bruins, they go as goaltender Tuukka Rask goes and he’s just gassed right now. He’s just two starts away from his career-high in starts and he’s just not used to this type of workload.

That being the case, I’ll add the over to my sports picks. The Bruins defense and goaltending has not been the same as it was in October and November, and the Blackhawks should be able to exploit that and push this to an over.

Pick: Over 5.5 at Bodog

Tampa Bay Lightning @ Carolina Hurricanes

Carolina is a maddeningly streaky, unpredictable team. They benched goaltender Cam Ward and gave Anton Khudobin the starting role and he responded with four straight wins. However, he – and Carolina – then got shutout in back-to-back games this week by Columbus and Calgary (the latter of which was at home), which is nothing short of pathetic.

However, they’re a -115 favorite in the NHL odds for this game because Tampa Bay has hit hard times. The Lightning have dropped two straight and three of four.

Simply based on the fact that this will be the Lightning’s third game in four nights, I’m going to take a flier on Carolina. They’ve lost twice to Tampa Bay this season but both times, the Hurricanes were mired in a big losing streak. This time, they are playing a bit better (have won six of eight), so they should get the job done.

Pick: Hurricanes -115 at Pinnacle

Washington Capitals @ New York Rangers

On paper, this figures to be a Rangers win. The Caps are mired in a massive slump as they’ve dropped and 10 of 13. They’ve scored just five goals in their last four games.

As for the Rangers, they are in the midst of their best stretch of hockey this season. After Saturday’s win in Ottawa, they’ve now won two straight, five of six and 10 of 14.

This is right on the border of the amount of juice I will lay with my NHL picks but with the scales so heavily-favoring the Rangers, they’re the play that makes sense here.

Pick: Rangers -140 at 5Dimes
