Home for the Hawks

Chicago finally returns home after a grueling 7-game in 12-day road trip. The trip was a huge success with the Hawks winning 6 of the 7-games, including the last 6 in a row. They held their last 5 opponents to 2-goals or less in each game. The Hawks have been lights out at home as well, losing just 1 of their first 13-games during regulation time at the United Center this season, and have earned 21 of 26 possible points. Chicago will now play 15 of their next 23-games at home. Entering tonight they’re the top scoring team in the NHL averaging 3.5 goals per game. If they do have a flaw it’s with their penalty killing unit. The Hawks are currently 28th in the NHL in that category allowing opponents to convert on 25.3% of their power play chances.

The Stars aren’t Shining Very Brightly

Dallas went through a torrid 6-1 stretch from 11/3 through 11/17. During that hot spell all 6 of those wins came on the road. Unfortunately since then they’ve dropped 4 of their last 5, including their last 2 which each coming via an overtime shootout. Dallas has gone through a bit of a dry spell in the goal scoring department. They’ve scored 2-goals or less in 5 of their last 6-games. Kari Lehtonnen has done a very nice job in goal for Dallas this season. In 19 starts Lehtonen has posted a stellar 2.18 GAA and a solid .926 save percentage. The Stars have earned 24 of 38 possible points this season when Lehtonen starts in goal.
