In Game 2 of a home and home series, the Dallas Stars take a trip to Jobing.com Arena to face the Phoenix Coyotes for the second night in a row. What should your NHL betting ticket say?

The puck drops in at 5 p.m. (PT) in this Pacific Division clash and the game will be available on NHL Center Ice.

Year-to-Date NHL Record: 8-2-1

Stars Betting Overview

Dallas comes into the second game of this home and home division rivalry fresh off a 4-3 shootout victory over Phoenix as a 111 home favorite. This offensive outburst was a welcome relief after scoring a total of just nine goals in their previous five games. It is easy to see why the total went OVER the five goal line after staying UNDER in four of the first five contests.

Before peppering the Coyotes with three goals in regulation on Friday night, the Stars’ scoring drought had not only taken its toll in the loss column, it dropped them to 27th in the league in scoring with a goals-per-game average of just 1.87. The ageless one, Jaromir Jagr has proved he still has something left in the tank with a scoring strike in Friday’s overtime shootout. Michael Ryder leads the team with four goals and Ray Whitney is the team’s point leader with two goals and four assists.

Coyotes Betting Overview

The Coyotes’ loss on Friday night dropped them to 2-4-2 on the year. Friday was their second loss of the year to Dallas after a 4-3 setback on opening day as 105 road underdogs. They come into the second half of this division matchup ranked seventh in the league in scoring with 3.1 goals-per-game. The problem with Phoenix’s slow start has been a defense that is giving-up an average of 3.1 goals a game.

Radim Vrbata has led the way with three goals and six assists and Steve Sullivan leads the team in goals with four. Sullivan remains questionable for this game after missing Friday night’s matchup with a lower body injury.  Overall, the team is ranked 10th in the league on the power play with a conversion rate of 23.5 percent and it has a penalty kill rate of 80.6 percent. It has been a goalie-by-committee effort so far with Mike Smith seeing the majority of the action. He has been less than stellar with a goals-against-average of 4.00.
