The crowd at Bridgestone has carried the home team to 10 straight victories but it’s the ‘total’ that NHL analyst Dana Lane is focused on tonight in what should be a thrilling high-scoring affair.

Final Regular Season NHL Selection Record: 87-73  .544   +16.95 units

Postseason Record:  15-14   .517   +4.61   units

Overall:  102-87  .540 +21.56 units

You have to wonder when the Anaheim Ducks are going to start feeling the effects of playing four playoffs games in seven days. I can’t help but to think that Anaheim is starting to wear down and now they’re being asked to get a game four victory in an arena where the Predators haven’t lost a playoff game in their last 10. Let’s not forget that the Ducks started this series less than 48 hours after they disposed of the Edmonton Oilers in seven games.

Anaheim head coach Randy Carlyle admitted that his team was getting worn down or as he says “ran out of gas”.  That comment is a reflection of the Predators scoring twice in the third period with two others being waved off. It seems as if Carlyle is already setting the stage for a Ducks exit.

We’re going to focus on the ‘total’ mostly because I think the Predators are in a position to help push this game ‘over’ by themselves after outshooting Anaheim 40-20 in game three.  At one point in the 1st and 2nd periods the Predators outshot the Ducks 19-1.  John Gibson has faced 119 shots through three games, that’s an average of 40 shots per game.

Nashville has done an exceptional job getting guys to the net to screen Gibson. They also get everyone involved in the offense including their defensemen, Roman Josi and Ryan Ellis both have 10 points each- a record for postseason defensemen.

Anaheim will surely come with their best effort of the series but the Predators come with confidence. A combination that won’t allow me to overlook the ‘over’.
