NHL Picks: Wild to win at -155 at Bookmaker; Wild to cover -1.5 at +190 at BetCRIS

Best Line Offered: at Bookmaker

Philadelphia Flyers (16-15-7)
The Philadelphia Flyers are sat sixth in the Metropolitan division with a 16-15-7 record and 39 points through 38 games played. They are a whopping 22 points behind division leaders Washington Capitals but five points adrift of Boston Bruins in the Eastern Conference wild-card standings.

Most recently, the Flyers are coming off a win, improving their record in the last ten games t 5-4-1. Home form is 9-5-4 while road form is a subpar 7-10-3 on the season, all of which is underscored by a negative 22-goal differential (outscored 83-to-105). Those discouraging stats have the Flyers ranked 29th in the league for scoring and 19th for allowing goals against.

On Tuesday, the Flyers beat the Montreal Canadiens 4-3. The win snapped a three-game skid that included losses to the Ducks, Sharks and Kings, all of which were on the road and extended their run of poor form on the road to five straight losses since beating St. Louis 4-2 on Dec. 10.

It’s almost a month the Flyers are without a road win, which is less than encouraging. They’re struggling on both sides of the rink and things don’t appear to be looking up. Indeed, NHL odds makers price the Flyers as the clear-cut underdogs at +150 or thereabouts depending on your sports betting shop of choice.

Minnesota Wild (21-11-7)
The Minnesota Wild are enjoying a solid season behind a 21-11-7 mark so far, but they are 11-points adrift of Central division leaders Dallas in the standings. Auspiciously, they are inside the wild-card race ahead of Nashville with four points and the current main chasing pack of Colorado, Calgary and Winnipeg.

The Wild are coming off a 4-2 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets, which improves their record in the last ten to 5-4-1. The win snaps a two-game losing skid on the road with losses to Tampa Bay and Florida, seeing them finish with a 2-2 SU record on the road in their last four games.

The Wild are back at home on Thursday before hitting the road to Dallas on Saturday. At home, they are a solid 14-5-1 this season while on the road they are 7-6-6. In their last four home games, they’ve gone 2-2 SU. Importantly, they boast a plus 13-goal differential thanks to scoring 105 goals and conceding just 92 through 39 games. They are 13th in the league for scoring and 9th for goal against.

NHL Picks: By the stats and form of each team, it’s no surprise the Wild are installed as the home favorites to win. They really should come through as the faves in this matchup, hence they are our NHL pick to win with the best price of -155 at Bookmaker.

As far as the puck line is concerned, it’s a bit of a tossup. The Wild are installed on -1.5-point puck line but the juice is trading at +200 or thereabouts depending on your sportsbook of choice. It appears, the Flyers are favored to keep this a close contest and potentially cover as the +1.5 road pups. For our money, we’re of a mind to go against the bookies and take the Wild at home for our NHL picks as the -1.5 home chalk with the attractive +190 juice at Bookmaker or BetCRIS.
