Saturday is the busiest night in the NHL this week with 11 matches on the betting menu. We’ve got four games previewed on the card with three below and the Detroit-Toronto contest separated to give it a greater focus.

Montreal Canadiens vs. Florida Panthers
The Canadiens are hot right now, so this looks like a good spot to add them to our NHL picks. They’ve won four straight and seven of eight. They’ve given up just 18 goals in their last eight games. On the flip side, Florida is a mess. They’ve lost four of five, eight of 11 and 16 of their last 22. The challenge for them is putting pucks in the net as they’ve been shut out twice in their last four games. They have scored just six goals in their last five games.

This is a mismatch, so take the Habs.

Pick: Canadiens -130 at BetMarathon

San Jose Sharks vs. Colorado Avalanche
I’m happy to take a shot with the Avalanche as they’re a home dog on Saturday. The Sharks have lost three of four and four of six, and their performance has been a tad disconcerting. Their losses have come to Washington, Calgary and Winnipeg, Florida and Calgary. None of those teams are as good as Colorado.

The Sharks have been a coin flip on the road throughout most of the season as they are just 21-17 on the road (compared to 26-11 at home). Colorado does have a noticeable home-ice advantage, cashing 24 times while only losing 14 at the Pepsi Center this season.

These two teams have squared off twice this year with the home team holding serve. I’ll look for that to continue on Saturday afternoon.

Pick: Avalanche +105 at Bovada

Dallas Stars vs. St. Louis Blues
I’ve been hammering away at the St. Louis Blues for the last little while and I’ll add them to my sports picks once more on Saturday. They’ll be hosting a Dallas Stars team that has lost five of eight and has been particularly bad on the road. The Stars have lost six of their last seven games on the road, although that one win did come in St. Louis. Still, the Stars are in a tight back-to-back situation here and you can bet that the Blues will want some revenge for what happened the last time these two teams met. The difference in that meeting was that the Stars came into the game on a two-game winning streak and that win proved to be their fourth in five games. Now they’re in a big slump and have been outscored 20-7 in their last four road games.

The Blues are on a roll as they’ve won 11 of their last 14. They’ve allowed two goals or less in 10 of those games. Combined with the fact that Dallas allows the fourth-most goals per game on the road (3.23) and we should see the Blues come away with another win here.

Pick: Blues -1.5 +135 at Bodog
