Philadelphia Flyers @ New Jersey Devils
The Philadelphia Flyers lost again on Friday night as they were smoked 7-0 by the Alex Ovechkin-less. They’ve now registered just three wins in 12 games this season and now have a quick turnaround as they travel to New Jersey on Saturday.
On the whole, I’ve basically written this Flyers team off. Had I told you at the beginning of the season that Steve Mason would be a serviceable goaltender for the Flyers and provide a 2.25 GAA and a .928 save percentage this season, you probably would have figured the Flyers would be a Cup contender. As it turns out, the Flyers have been horrendous even with better-than-expected goaltending.
I’m willing to lay the juice with the Devils in this spot because Philadelphia is so bad. The Devils have a bit of momentum as they enter on a two-game winning streak. Considering Philadelphia can’t score these days, I will also be adding the under to my NHL picks here.
Free Pick: Devils -135 & Under 5.5 at Bookmaker
Detroit Red Wings @ Edmonton Oilers
I find it hard to believe anyone would be willing to lay juice with the Edmonton Oilers at this point – even though it’s only -110 on the NHL odds and they are at home. Detroit is also in a tight spot as this will be their second game in as many nights and their third game in four nights.
However, the Oil Can just doesn’t have any confidence right now. The Oilers are a young team that is on a four-game losing streak. Overall, they’ve won just three of their 14 games.
I get that Detroit is in a tight spot from a scheduling standpoint but I’m still taking them with my sports picks. They have won two straight on the road and are now 5-2-0 away from home this season. They are simply the better of the two teams in this spot.

Boston Bruins @ New York Islanders
Over appears to be a pretty good bet with the Islanders these days as they can’t seem to stop their opponents from lighting the lamp. The Isles have now given up at least three goals in each of their last six games and nine of their last 10. That might be bad news for the Isles on Saturday as the Bruins offense is really starting to click. The Bruins averaged just 2.5 goals per game in their first six contests this season but have averaged 3.3 in their last six. When you combine those two factors, I think we’ll see an over in this game.
