After a successful Friday night, we’ll move on to a busy Saturday night with 11 games on the schedule. Here’s a look at our free picks for the busiest night of the week in the NHL.

NHL Betting: Saturday Picks

Record: 27-29 (-97)

Detroit Red Wings at Columbus Blue Jackets

The Detroit Red Wings appear to have some momentum going as they have won three of their last four games. On the whole, they are 4-1-1 in their last six. While the Red Wings played on Friday night, they look like they’re worth including in our sports picks for Saturday because the Columbus Blue Jackets are really struggling. They’ve lost six of their last seven games and they have been failing at almost every aspect of the game.

The Red Wings got a big win on Friday night and their offense appeared to kick it into high gear with a five-goal game against St. Louis. Henrik Zetterberg had a hat trick and the team played with fire. The Blue Jackets have scored just eight goals in their last six games, so really the Red Wings might not need a lot to get the job done here. Take the Red Wings for one of your NHL picks.

New York Rangers at Tampa Bay Lightning

The New York Rangers have had a tough time scoring goals this season and are coming off a 3-0 shutout loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins. However, a meeting with the Tampa Bay Lightning should kick start their offense.

The Lightning have only played in one game this season where the total landed under 5.5. Goaltender Anders Lindback has a 2.84 GAA this season and has given up 10 goals in his last four games.

On the Lightning side of things, their offense should do their fair share of contributing to the over as they have scored 37 goals this season, which is the most in the NHL. This over play is mostly based on the Lightning and it should be a recurring play until we see something change.

Nashville Predators at San Jose Sharks

The Nashville Predators are next in line to try and take down the perfect San Jose Sharks as they make the trip on Saturday. The Predators have had a tough time scoring this season as they’ve totaled just 12 goals in seven games. They are coming off a 2-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday but that win produce just their third and fourth goals in their last four games.

This game should be low scoring not just because the Preds won’t score a whole lot but because Pekka Rinne plays well against the Sharks. The Preds netminder posted a 1.95 GAA against the Sharks last season. Sharks goaltender Antti Niemi has played well this season, posting a 1.95 GAA so far.

While the NHL odds indicate that the total is just five, there is plus-money on the under, so I’ll take it.
