Tampa Bay Lightning at Washington Capitals
Looking at the NHL odds for this matchup, I think that six is a bit high of a total for these two teams. Tampa Bay still plays plenty of overs but with Ben Bishop in net, they have upgraded (albeit slightly). As for Washington, they have won six straight and are 8-1-1 in their last 10. They’ve allowed five goals in their last three games and goaltender Braden Holtby has a 1.96 GAA this month with a .944 save percentage – his best numbers by far this season.
I understand why the total is at six but I think it’s half a goal too high. I’ll take the under.
Pick: Under 6 at Bodog for you hockey picks today.
Anaheim Ducks at Los Angeles Kings
The Anaheim Ducks are worth a look here as they are a sizable road dog in Los Angeles. They’ve won two of three against Los Angeles and had no trouble scoring against them. In the three meetings this season, they have totaled 13 goals.
Los Angeles has been a good home team this season (15-4-1) but they’ve been a bit sluggish lately. They’ve dropped two of three and are a mediocre 9-8 in the last month. As a road dog, Anaheim is worth a shot.
Pick: Ducks +134 Pinnacle's NHL odds board.
Pittsburgh Penguins at Florida Panthers
The Penguins seem to have their mojo back as they have won three straight. More importantly, their offense has seemingly adjusted to life without Sidney Crosby as they have now scored 11 goals over their last two games. On Saturday, the Pens red-hot offense will get a shot at the Florida Panthers, who have allowed the most goals in the Eastern Conference by a wide margin and are just one behind the league-worst Calgary Flames.
The juice is too high to add the Pens moneyline to my hockey picks but I’ll lay the puck line with them. They should be able to take care of the hapless Panthers rather easily.
