The Buffalo Sabres finish up their brief two-game Florida road trip when they visit the Panthers on Thursday night. Who's backers will cash with their NHL picks tonight in this matchup?

NHL Betting: Sabres vs. Panthers Picks

The trip started well as they earned a 2-1 win in Tampa Bay on Tuesday to give interim head coach Ron Rolston his first win. Now they’ll try to string together some momentum as they are road dogs on Thursday according to the NHL odds.

Record: 60-69 (-690)

The Buffalo Sabres can win because…

Florida is a sloppy team. Even though they are coming off a 6-4 win over Pittsburgh, the Panthers have actually won just two of their last nine games. Florida is just 1-5 this season when scoring four or more goals in their previous game and just 2-5 when playing at home with a total of 5.5.

The Sabres have the better goaltender in this matchup as Ryan Miller is at least somewhat capable. The Panthers concoction of Jose Theodore, Scott Clemmensen and Jacob Markstrom each have a goals-against average over 3.00, so that could be the difference.

The Florida Panthers can win because…

The Sabres are just as much of a wreck. Buffalo might be coming off a win but they’ve still lost six of their last eight. Prior to their win, they had been outscored 7-1 in the first two games since Rolston took over.

Buffalo is just failing at both ends of the ice right now. They’ve allowed 64 goals, which is among the worst in the NHL, and they aren’t scoring much themselves. They’ve scored just four goals in their last four games and their power play has gone 0-for-13. In the game of hockey, it can’t really get much worse.

Outlook & Pick

These are two bad teams but I’m just not willing to lay any juice in this matchup. I’ll take the value with Buffalo for my NHL Picks in what is really a coin flip matchup.
