The Buffalo Sabres will travel to the emotionally charged TD Garden this Wednesday night to face-off against the Boston Bruins in a classic Northeast Division matchup.

Game time is set for 4:30 p.m. (PT) and it will be broadcast nationally on the NBC Sports Network.

Sabres Betting Overview

It has been an up and down season for the Sabres but they have been able to string together five victories in their last seven games to make a run at a spot in the playoffs. Overall, Buffalo is 18-19-6 and four points out of eighth place in the Eastern Conference standings with 42 points. While it is over .500 at home this season it comes into this matchup 8-11-3 on the road. The total has stayed UNDER in three of its last four games.

Buffalo has been winning games lately on sheer grit and determination behind an offense that has averaged 2.5 goals a game this season and a defense that has a goals-against-average of 2.9. Over the past seven games the Sabres have tallied 16 goals while allowing 15, but have still managed to come away with five wins. Jhonas Enroth has gotten the start in goal in the past two outings over Ryan Miller and could get the call again tonight after allowing just one goal on 61 shots.

Bruins Betting Overview

While the city of Boston has many more pressing concerns than hockey on its mind after Monday’s tragic bombing at the Boston Marathon, the Bruins are sure to take the ice tonight in an effort to provide a distraction and return to some sort of normalcy for its fans. Monday night’s game against Ottawa was postponed so they will also looking to get back to their winning ways after suffering back-to-back losses to the New York Islanders and Carolina as solid favorites in each contest.

Boston currently trails Montreal by just one point for the lead in the Northeast as well as the No.2 seed in the conference with a total of 56 points. Even without all the added emotion that will be running through the building in this contest, TD Garden has been a tough place to steal a win this season with the Bruins sporting a 14-3-2 record in 19 previous games. Look for Patrice Bergeron to return to the lineup in this one after missing time with a mild concussion but Brad Marchand remains questionable after suffering a mild one as well last Wednesday.

Sabres vs. Bruins- Free NHL Pick

Boston is sure to come out flying all over the ice, but the Sabres’ current form should keep this contest tight through all three periods. A play on Buffalo +1.5 on the puck line at -145 is one way to go in this one, but the free NHL pick is with Boston to snap its two-game skid with the hard-fought straight-up win.
