We’re going to examine Tuesday’s NHL game between the Kings and Blues. Go inside to read our betting odds review and advice making a money line NHL pick on this showdown.

NHL Western Conference Premier Matchup on Tuesday
St. Louis and Los Angles will meet on Tuesday in a matchup of what’s expected to be two of the better Western Conference teams this season. The opening faceoff at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis is slated for 8:05 PM ET. According to NHL betting odds at the time of this writing, St. Louis is a -135 money line favorite, and the posted total is 5.0. This will be the first meeting of the season between these clubs. They squared off three times last season, Los Angles come out on top in two of those three, and the home team won on each occasion.

Expected Starting Goaltenders
Since Jonathan Quick was between the pipes during last night’s 4-2 loss at Chicago, in all likelihood we’ll see backup Jonas Enroth for Los Angeles on Tuesday. Enroth has made just a lone start this season, but it proved to be a very good one. Back on 10/22 at San Jose, Enroth stopped 39 of 40 Sharks shots on goal during a 4-1 Kings win.

Jake Allen has started each of the last three games for St. Louis, and there’s little reason to believe he won’t be in goal again tonight. After all, Allen allowed only a combined three goals during that stretch, including one shutout, and St. Louis won all of those contests.

Intangible Factors
Tuesday will be the Kings third game in the last four days, including playing with no rest after Monday’s game in Chicago. The Kings had their seven game winning streak ended last night, despite outshooting their opponent 35-26, and having a 2-1 lead entering the final period.

St. Louis enters today’s game with two days of rest. This will also be only their fifth game over the last 14 days, and all of those have taken place at home. Despite being without the services of key players Jaden Schwartz, Paul Stastny, Patrik Berglund and Kevin Shattenkirk for an extended period of time, St. Louis has won the second most games in the Western Conference. In addition to those aforementioned players, leading scorer Vladimir Tarasenko missed the last game due to a leg injury. Tarasenko is listed as probable for tonight.

Final Thoughts & NHL Pick
The rest factor weighs heavily into the equation when handicapping this game. Enroth was superb in his only start for Los Angeles, but he hasn’t appeared in a game for two weeks. In a battle of two very evenly matched teams, there’s just more hurdles to clear tonight for the visitors in comparison to its opponent. I’m leaning toward the reasonably priced money line home favorite for one of my NHL picks today.
