The focus is college football today but this is when the public may find some nuggets of gold in the betting lines. First, let's take a look at some players that teams may be looking to trade and how that may effect the dynamic of the team before they're traded. Knowing now who may be traded and to whom is a powerful tool in the NHL prediction business if you're still looking for value in the futures market.

'Tis the time of year where the National Hockey League starts to settle in as GM's start to reevaluate their roster and who may make an impact on the free agent market.

Let's start with Evander Kane who is one of the most overrated hockey players in the league. He has one 30 goal season under his belt and has lived off of his potential for a long time. Of course, his off the ice issues are well documented too but one scenario that Kane has never been a part of is a team with real potential to win a Stanley Cup. Rumor is the Vancouver Canucks have been a potential trading partner which won't have me running to a book to bet a future. I don't think that trade is going to happen because the Sabres want defensemen back and the Canucks aren't exactly growing quality defensemen these days. Watch carefully to see if a contender comes into the mix then perhaps jump on them.

Goaltending trade rumors have been a hot topic for a year with neither the Tampa Bay Lightning or Pittsburgh Penguins making a move. You would figure that one or both of them could be moved because with the expansion draft coming up one of these franchises will lose a goaltender to Las Vegas, sorry, Vegas. Ben Bishop and Marc-Andre Fleury will make a difference for any franchise with Dallas and Carolina as possible homes. Both teams that have the potential to go a long way in the playoffs but neither with goaltending to rely on.

Just a few thoughts on potential landing spots for players that could make an impact on your bankroll if you're quick to recognize a trade in advance.

As down as I am about the Detroit Red Wings let's take a chance with them as a sizeable dog, at home, against the overrated Montreal Canadiens who have lost 26 of their last 36 games on the road. Yes, I know that dates back to last season but I need to see that trend turn consistently before I back them as such a big road favorite.
