Detroit Red Wings (22-14-7)
The Detroit Red Wings look to bounce back against the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday night, following a 4-2 loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Monday. The loss snapped a four-game winning streak on the road, which included wins over Buffalo, New Jersey, San Jose and Anaheim.

Recent form stands at 5-5-0 in their last ten games, which is a modest mark altogether, but Red Wings fans will be hanging their hats on the 4-1 SU mark in their last five games as a good indication of a potential bounce back performance in Arizona.

Overall, the Red Wings are second in the Atlantic division with a 22-14-7 record, six points behind division leaders Florida Panthers. They boast and 11-8-4 record at home and an 11-6-3 record on the road, both positive marks that underscore their merit on the NHL odds board. That and having already crushed the Coyotes 5-1 at home earlier this season.

Arizona Coyotes (22-16-4)
The Arizona Coyotes are riding a four-game winning streak into Thursday’s clash with the Detroit Red Wings, a positive run of form that stands the hosts in good stead on the NHL odds board.

At home the Coyotes are a solid 12-6-2 on the season, complementing a 10-10-2 road record. In their last ten games they are 7-1-2, which includes the run of four straight wins over Vancouver, Calgary, Nashville and Edmonton. During this run of form, they’ve outscored opponents 13-9. In their last two games, they’ve netted four goals in each game and conceded just three.

The Coyotes are fifth in the league in goals scored per game with an average of 2.9 goals per game. They are also 12th in the league in Power Play PCT with 19.5.

All in all, the Coyotes are second in the Pacific Division with a 22-16-4 mark and 48 points, nine points adrift of division leaders Los Angeles.

NHL Betting Verdict
In the broad spectrum of the season, both the Red Wings and Coyotes are enjoying good form and appear to be playoff bound. Recent form as well is auspicious for both teams with both teams 4-1 SU in their last five games. The upshot of all this is a rather coy NHL betting line in straight up betting: both the Red Wings and Coyotes are matched on -110 NHL odds to win outright. With neither side getting the edge from bookies, it’s a right toss up for your NHL picks to determine where the value is. As such, we’re giving the straight up betting markets a miss here and turning our attention to the totals, which are set on 5-points.

The Coyotes are fifth in the league in scoring and average 2.9 goals per game. The Red Wings are 20th in the league in scoring but average 2.5-points per game. Considering the sum total of these averages, it’s no surprise the OVER 5 is favored at -135 NHL odds. And we do like the OVER for our NHL picks. Other aspects of this matchup that have us leaning towards the OVER include the last meeting that was a 5-1 decimation of the Coyotes, something they’ll be looking to redress in Detroit tonight, and the fact that the Coyotes offense seems to be on a roll right now, netting 13 goals in the last four games, upping their average to over 3 goals per game during that stretch.
