The New York Rangers managed to survive one more game as they outlasted the Los Angeles Kings 2-1 in Game 4. Are they worth a shot on the NHL odds in Game 5 to push this to a 3-2 series?

The New York Rangers Can Win Because…
The Kings let the New Jersey Devils back in the series two Stanley Cup finals ago, so the Rangers have a shot. If you recall, the Kings led the Devils 3-0 in that series too, but New Jersey won two straight, before the Kings finally put them to bed.

The Rangers got their power play going, got a goal from Martin St. Louis, and scored first. If those three things can happen in Game 5, they have a good shot to win.

The Los Angeles Kings Can Win Because…
They’re clearly the better team. Even in desperation mode, the Rangers barely won. They held on for a 2-1 win, and that was with the puck stopping twice right on the Rangers goal line. In other words, they got lucky. As long as the Kings come out with a little bit more effort in Game 5, they’re going to finish this thing off.

Henrik Lundqvist made 40 saves in Game 4, and stole the show for the Rangers. However, the Kings have already shown that they can find a way through him. If he has to face 40 shots again in Game 5, chances are the Kings end the series.

Outlook & Pick
The Kings are probably the better choice for your NHL picks here. They have dominated this series and the Rangers are very lucky that they escaped with a win in Game 4. The Kings are capable coming from behind but the Rangers are not. If the Rangers don’t get the first goal in Game 5, they’re in trouble and even if they do, expect the Kings to be on their game to come back and seal this deal.
