The New York Rangers will try and climb back in the race for the top spot in the Eastern Conference when they invade TD Garden this Tuesday night to face the Boston Bruins. Game time is set for 4:30 p.m. (PT) and it will be broadcast nationally on the NBC Sports Network.

Rangers Betting Overview

The Rangers are finally starting to recover from a slow start with five victories in their last seven games including romps over the Islanders and Tampa Bay by a combined score of 9-1 in their last two contests. They have now won their last four games as the NHL odds favorites to move to 6-5 on the year and the total has stayed UNDER in six of their last eight games.

New York is not only ramping things up on defense by allowing a combined 15 goals in its last eight games, it is starting to find the back of the net on a regular basis, which was missing from this team earlier in the year. Consistency is still an issue but the Rangers’ heavy hitters are returning to form. Marian Gaborik leads the team with six goals and Brad Richards has scored two goals and seven assists to tie Gaborik with a team-high nine points. Henrik Lundqvist has settled down in goal and now has a .911 save percentage to go along with a goals-against-average of 2.44.

Bruins Betting Overview

Boston burst out of the gate after the long layoff with five victories in their first six games and has yet to slow down with three-straight road wins that have it first in the Northeast Division with 17 points and a record of 8-1-1. The Bruins trail New Jersey for the top spot in the Eastern Conference by just two points. The total has stayed UNDER in four of their last five games.

The Bruins only managed a total of six goals in their last three games, but it was more than enough scoring to win all three considering the defense allowed a total of two goals. Tuukka Rask has been playing lights-out in goal with a GAA of 1.97 and Boston is ranked first in the NHL in killing off power plays with a kill rate of 92.9 percent. Offensively, Brad Marchand leads the team in goals with six, but David Krejci is the leader in total points with 10. All told, the Bruins have seven different players with two or more goals.

Rangers vs. Bruins- Free NHL Pick

Both teams are playing at the form that made them one of BetOnline’s top favorites to win the East this season. This time around should be a hard-hitting, low-scoring affair between two teams that know how to play defense and two goalies that are playing extremely well between the pipes. For our free NHL pick in this showdown we are siding with the Rangers, who end up playing slightly better than Boston on Tuesday night.
