The New York Rangers Can Win Because…
Henrik Lundqvist is in the midst of his best stretch of hockey this season. Lundqvist has a 2.09 GAA this month with a .931 save percentage. Considering the Isles have given up at least three goals in each of their last six games, the Rangers should have a huge edge in net here.
Lundqvist thrives against the Islanders as he’s got a career record of 27-17 against them (27-12-5) with a 2.12 GAA and a .922 save percentage. If he plays like that, there’s a great chance the Rangers cash for your NHL picks.
The New York Islanders Can Win Because….
They are getting reinforcements. The Isles defense and goaltending has been a clear weakness this month as they’re giving up 3.29, which is the second-highest amount in the league. However, goaltender Evgeni Nabokov is back from injury and so is defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky. That will give them a boost. Kevin Poulin has been filling in between the pipes for the Isles and he’s been a gong show this month. He has a 3.27 GAA and .891 save percentage this month. Nabokov is better than that.
The Isles have won two straight against the Rangers, totaling 10 goals in those two wins. They’ve scored 13 in the three meetings this season, so clearly they have no problems on offense with the Rangers. As long as Nabokov can give them a good effort, there’s a good chance the Isles cash for your sports picks.
Outlook & Pick
This is a start of a home-and-home series as the two teams will meet again on Friday. With Lundqvist playing his best hockey of the year right now and the Isles giving up a ton of goals, I think that’s eventually the difference. Take the Rangers on the NHL odds.
