The Rangers and Blue Jackets will square off in a game with huge playoff implications on Friday. Join us as we focus our NHL bet on the winning side versus the money line.

The NHL betting odds show Columbus as a small favorite, but the Rangers have been a solid NHL beton the road this season. Don’t make a move in this game without checking on who we’re betting on, and why.

Tale of the Tape
The Blue Jackets host the Rangers on Friday at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio with the opening face-off slated for 7:05 PM ET. According to NHL betting odds Columbus is a -115 money line home favorite and the posted total is 5.5. The Blue Jackets have gone 5-2 in their last 7 home games versus the Rangers. These teams are tied for 3rd in the Metropolitan Division, and tied for 7th overall in the Eastern Conference. The Rangers have 12-games remaining in the regular season while the Blue Jackets have 13 left to play.

Road Tested and Rested
The New York Rangers come off an 8-4 win at Ottawa on Tuesday. They continue to be one of the better road teams in the NHL this season compiling a 21-13 mark in that role, including going 19-7 in their last 26. Although this is an extremely important game for both teams tonight regarding playoff implications, it’s especially so for the Rangers who have 1 less game to play than the Blue Jackets. Since the well chronicled trade that sent long time captain Ryan Callahan to Tampa Bay for Martin St. Louis, the Rangers have gone just 4-4. St. Louis hasn’t exactly been tearing it up as he’s recorded just 3 assists in those 8-games. Henrik Lundquist is listed as the probable starter in goal tonight for “The Blue Shirts”.

Urgent and Desperate Times for the Jackets
The Columbus Blue Jackets are coming off a huge 3-2 win at Montreal last night. Ryan Johansen scored the game winner with just 3:01 left to play in the 3rd period. It was Johansen’s team leading 27th goal of the season. Columbus displayed a high degree of emotion and intensity in the win outshooting the Canadians 40-27 in the game. Sergei Bobrovsky started in goal last night for the 16th consecutive game for Columbus, and was solid in stopping 25 of 27 Montreal shots on net. This will be the Blue Jackets 3rdgame in the last 4-days. Columbus is 10-4 in their last 14 home games versus the money line. The Jackets have gone under the total in their last 3, and 5 of the last 6-games. They’ve also gone 7-3 versus the money line in their last 10 overall, and have earned at least 1-point in 8 of those 10.

Final Analysis
This is a tough spot for Columbus having just played last night, and also taking the ice for their 3rd game in the last 4-days. Additionally they will be facing a Rangers team playing on 2-days rest, and who’s been stellar on the road this season. My lean here goes to the road underdog.
