The Nashville Predators continue their Canadian West Coast trip with a stop in Calgary on Friday. They might find themselves a little gassed as they played in Dallas on Tuesday and Vancouver on Thursday.

NHL Betting: Predators vs. Flames Picks

Could this be a reasonable spot to take a shot with Calgary on the betting odds lines?

Record: 83-92 (-335)

The Nashville Predators can win because…

The Flames are not a good team. Calgary has just one win in their last four games is tied for the fewest points in the Western Conference and has lost three of four.

Nashville has won three of four in this series and the reasoning has been quite simple: they have the better defense and goaltending. Calgary has scored just five goals in the last four meetings and Nashville should be able to put the clamps down once again with Pekka Rinne leading the charge.

The Calgary Flames can win because…

Nashville will be gassed. The Preds are not a great road team to begin with but now they are in a back-to-back situation and playing their third game in four nights.

Calgary has been respectable at home recently. They’ve won five straight in front of their own audience and scored an average of 4.2 goals per game. Nashville is one of the lowest scoring teams in the NHL, so if the Flames can make this an offensive contest, they’ll be in command.

Outlook & Pick

It’s a small card on Friday, so we’re forced to pick this game. While I don’t really want to bet Calgary in many situations this season, this could be one of them. The Preds have quietly been sinking in the standings over the last month as they have just three wins in their last nine (prior to Thursday’s game in Vancouver). They are only four points better than Calgary.

The reason the Preds have been a bit deceptive is because of their overtime losses. They have six so far this season, which ties them for the most in the NHL. If you look at their real record, it’s 11-15.

With these teams being about equal but Calgary being fresher, I’ll take the Flames for my hockey picks in this one.
