The Nashville Predators come in off a couple of shutout losses, while the New York Rangers come in having won 10 of their last 11 games. What is the best NHL pick here? Let's check!

Nashville Predators (11-5-2-1 SU, 9-10 PL, 8-10-1 OU) vs New York Rangers (15-3-1-1 SU, 11-9 PL, 6-10-4 OU)
Lines: Rangers -140/ Nashville +127
Total: 5

The Offense Has Left the Building
The Nashville Predators have been a top 10 offense for much of the year, but all of a sudden that offense has disappeared as they have been shutout in back-to-back road losses to Columbus and Minnesota. This is the same team that put up seven goal in games vs. Ottawa and Winnipeg in their last home stand. The Preds now rank 15th in the league in scoring at 2.68 gpg, which includes scoring just 2.11 gpg on the road for the year. Nashville is 5th in shots per game and 17th in power play conversions.

Pekka Rinne has struggled on this trip as well as he has taken the loss in both games and has allowed a combined seven goals in the process. Rinne is now 10-7 on the year with a 2.21 GAA and vs. the Rangers in his career, he has gone 1-2 with a solid 1.98 GAA. Nashville has been a solid defensive club for the most part this year and they come in ranked 10th in the league in goals allowed (2.5 gpg) 3rd in shots allowed (27.4 spg) and 16th in penalty kill (80%)

Rick Nash Nets Three as Rangers Top Panthers In OT
The New York Rangers had their recent nine game win streak snapped with a loss at Tampa Bay, but on Saturday night they bounced back with a 5-4 win in OT over the Florida Panthers, behind a hat trick from Rick Nash, who now has five goals on the year. His third goal was a biggie as it came in OT after the Rangers had squandered a two goal lead late in the game. Mats Zuccarello (10th) and Viktor Stalberg also scored in the game for the Rangers, who are now 5th in the league in scoring at 3.1 gpg.

Henrik Lundqvist got the win in the game, but he is not happy at all right now as the defense is forcing him to make a ton of saves each and every night. In the win over Florida he had to make 39 saves, and for the year, the Rangers are 27th in the league in shots allowed per game, giving up 31.8 spg. Still the Rangers are tops in the league in goals allowed, giving up just 1.7 gpg, but Lundqvist just wishes he didn’t have to make so many stops each night. Lundqvist is now 11-5 on the year with a 1.85 GAA and he has faced the most shots in the league (522).

Must Read: Bet on Bruins & Maple Leafs to Have a Low Scoring Game

Trends for Nashville:
3-8 in their last 11 vs. the Metropolitan

1-5 in their last six games following a loss of three or more goals

Trends for New York:
22-7 in their last 29 vs. the Western Conference

38-14 in their last 52 when their opponent scores two goals or less in their previous game

The Rangers are the clear play here, as they are the better team with the better goalie and the better offense as well. Lundqvist is not happy about the defense in front of him, so I look for that to change in this one as well. Nashville has been shutout in back to back games and facing the team that has allowed the fewest goals per game this year is not a way for their offense to get back on track or improve the NHL odds. The Rangers will improve to 10-1-1 at home after this one. Take them with your NHL picks.
