The Pittsburgh Penguins took the New York Rangers lightly in Game 4 and that cost them. As a result, the Rangers rolled on to a 5-1 win and cashed on the NHL odds. We’ll see if the Penguins can close out the series on Sunday.

The Pittsburgh Penguins Can Win Because…
They’ve been the better team in this series. Assuming they don’t come out with a lackadaisical effort again, they are going to win. So far this series, they’ve slept-walked through the first period of Game 1 and all of Game 4. When that happens, the Rangers can take control. However, the Pens have controlled play the rest of the time.

Game 4 was an aberration. They thought it would be easy and it wasn’t. They’ll be more focused in Game 6, so take them with your NHL picks. They’ll get back on track on Sunday and close out the Rangers.

The New York Rangers Can Win Because…
They finally woke up in Game 4. A lot of things went well for the Rangers in Game 4 and there’s a good chance that momentum carries over to Game 5. They scored five goals, which was the same amount they had scored in the other four games combined. They finally scored a power play game for the first time in 10 games, ending an 0-for-36 streak. And their key weapons finally got on the board as Derrick Brassard had two goals and an assist, Chris Kreider and Ryan McDonagh had a goal and an assist, Mats Zuccarello had three assists and Rick Nash had a helper too.

The Rangers know how to get the job done. They’ve won two of three in Pittsburgh. Now they just have to find a way to carry that play over to Madison Square Garden.

Outlook & Pick
The Pens lost focus in Game 5 but they’ll get it back in Game 6. They’ve played well in New York in this series and I’ll expect them to put away the Rangers in this spot.
