Penguins Can Win Because…
They finally got going. They fell asleep in the first period of Game 1 and that essentially cost them that contest. However, in periods 2 and 3 of Game 1, and in Game 2, the Pens completely dominated. The Rangers haven’t scored a goal in any of those periods and should start to get concerned. As for Pittsburgh, they’ve proven that when they take it to the Rangers, there isn’t much New York can do. The Pens have outshot the Rangers in each of those periods and have created way more scoring opportunities. If they keep that up, the Rangers will be facing a series deficit after Monday night.

Rangers Can Win Because…
They’ll find a way to beat Marc-Andre Fleury. The Pens netminder played his best game of the playoffs on Sunday but history shows that’s not likely to continue. Fleury has allowed three or more goals in six of his eight playoff games – including Game 1 – and the Rangers are very likely to do more scoring in Game 2.
As was the case in Round 1 for the Rangers, they need more from their power play. They were zero-for-four in Game 2 and have now failed to score on their last 29 man-advantages. If they can get some help from special teams, they’ll get the upper hand in Game 3.
Outlook & Pick
Outside of a bad first period in the first game, the Pens have been the superior team. Now that they’re on the road, we get them at a discount on the betting odds. That being the case, I’ll add them to my NHL picks. They’re the better team and momentum is on their side.
