Never one to self-promote, your Humble Handicapper will only mention in passing that the last time he picked a winner in a Penguins game he was spot on, despite the fact the score was slightly off and thanks to the winner who called me legend after that game.
Enough with you and your non-troll…WHERE’S THE MONEY MIKE?
The Penguins are on a great run at the moment after 20 games played they’ve got 13 wins and just seven defeats under their belts, the Carolina Hurricanes are a couple of games behind, but are not looking too shabby themselves, they have nine victories eight defeats and one overtime loss in their 18 games.
Top Ten Bets
Looking at the last 10 though it almost exactly as close, it’s Pittsburgh 6-4-0; Carolina 5-4-1, so by all means stick a few pounds on the game ending drawn which is available at +275 NHL Odds. You also might want to bet on the game ending tied 3-3 in regulation (at +1000) as the Penguins have a 3.40 goals per game average and her Keynes are on 2.78, those stats or almost exactly reversed for the goals against as the Penguins or on 2.70 and her Keynes are on 3.00.
Those stats also show that the penguins are great up front and owe their highflying position to the goals they’ve scored but they really do need to tighten up at the back, a fact the Hurricanes could take full advantage of. As for the sports books the bookies have a Penguins victory at -145 while the Hurricanes coming on top is at +125 more interest lay the odds on this game going over 5.5 goals are -120, and under is at +100.
House of Cards in Washington
The ‘canes are coming off a 3-0 loss last Tuesday at Washington and will probably be cross about it as they threw 32 shots on goal but still couldn't beat the Capital's keeper Brandon Holtby. Truth be known Carolina should have made it back-to-back wins after their 4-2 victory over the Islanders on Sunday but the gods of hockey just wouldn't let them.
I think the Penguins are just a little bit too cool and a little bit too confident at the front especially as their top line has made four goals and seven assists clocking up 11 points in the past two games this week, and I don't think the Hurricanes will be able to deal with it. So, I'll consider that with my NHL picks here.
Clashes Between the Two sides Could Have a Big Impact on the Eastern Conference.
Looking at the last four meetings between these two sides it's 3-1 to the Penguins and more significantly it's the last three meetings straight. The last time that the hurricanes beat the Penguins was back in November 2011 although that game was an eight goal stunner. More recently the hurricanes haven't scored more than two goals against the Penguins and have been outscored 9-5 in their past three games.
NHL Picks: Penguins victory, 3-2 available at 7/1(+700) with bet365.
