My current record in the NHL is pretty poor, but thankfully my EPL tips have been bringing home plenty of bacon. However that shocking run of poor form ends now as I'm expecting to win big money when the Penguins take on the Flyers.
Enough with the self-abasement…WHERE’S THE MONEY MIKE?
After 23 games the Penguins have won an impressive 15 and lost just eight, the Flyers by comparison have won 11 and lost 12 out of their 24.
This clash will be the third time that these sides meet this year and it's interesting to note that both of the previous games have gone in the away side’s favour. Philadelphia came out on top 6-5 back in February while Pittsburgh were 3-1 winners back in January.
Despite the fact that they’ve played one less game, the Penguins have out scored the Flyers so for this term 30 goals to 23.
The NHL Picks of the Day for today has some real gems~
Sports Books Have the Penguins Winning at -125 While Flyers Winning is +105.
The Penguins are currently 15 – 8 – 0 and will be looking to add to their impressive run now they’ve got Paul Martin ready to return. They will also likely be taking advantage of the return to good health of Evgeni Malkin after he suffered a nasty concussion in a win over Florida on February. 22. The returning Malkin was on form in his last game with the Penguins and notched up a goal and an assist in their 4-3 win over Tampa Bay on Monday.
This Time it’s Personal
Malkin has a very impressive 21 career goals against the Flyers and 34 assists from his 30th regular-season games against the Flyers and had a goal and assist in that 6-5 feet in Pittsburgh's last meeting wit the Flyers. In that game where both sides scored three goals in the final period makes me want to bat on the this game going over 5.5 goals (at -145 shown on the NHL odds boards).
The Flyers will want to get back to winning ways after going down 4-2 to the New York Rangers on Tuesday. The defence looks to be a little bit confused in that match but something that the Flyers can't afford as their goalies have one of the worst safe percentages in the NHL. In fact the Flyers have let in four or more goals in three of their last six games, all games that they were defeated in. What keeps Flyers in contention and winning occasional games is their power play, and over those same last six games they scored eight times out of 25 power-play chances.
Personally I think that's too little too late and I'm going a better hard on the Penguins winning this match for my NHL picks.
