This is game two of a home-and-home series and taking game one was the Florida Panthers as they won 5-4 in a shootout. The Florida Panthers won two of their last eight.

Ben Bishop Struggles In Loss To Panthers
The Tampa Bay Lightning have been struggling mightily on offense this year and they had a very nice game vs Florida putting up four goals in the game, but still it wasn’t enough as Ben Bishop allowed four goals in regulation and one in the shootout. Vladislav Namestniko (Try saying that five times fast) was the leader of the offense on this night as he notched his 4th and 5th goals of the year, but still those were his first two goals in his last 11 games.

Ben Bishop is now just 6-9 on the year, despite the fact that he has a solid 2.26 GAA. In his previous six starts he was 1-5, despite the fact that he allowed two goals or less in all six games. Tonight the offense finally gave him support and he blew it. Bishop is now 6-2 with a 2.05 GAA vs the Panthers in his career. The Lightning check in at 23rd in the league in scoring, putting up 2.4 gpg, while on defense they have allowed just 2.4 gpg, which is 10th.

Brandon Piri Stars In Win Over Lightning
The Florida Panthers have not been playing very well but they grabbed a big road vs the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday and Brandon Piri was a big part of that as he had a penalty shot goal and then he scored the deciding goal in the shootout. He now has three goals on the year, but he might not have had a chance to win the game had it not been for Aaron Ekbald, who sent the game to OT with just 38 seconds left in regulation. That was his third goal of the year.

Getting the win for the Panthers was Roberto Luongo, who notched his 406th career victory. For the year he is now 5-8 with a 2.53 GAA and he is now 14-17 with a 2.60 GAA vs the Lightning in his career. Florida has been an average offensive squad, ranking 13th in the league in scoring at 2.8 gpg and they have also been average on defense, allowing 2.6 gpg, which is 16th in the league.

Tampa Bay is:
8-3 in their last 11 after allowing five goals or more in their previous game
7-1 in the last eight meetings in Florida

Florida is:
19-50-1 in their last 70 in the second game of a home-and-home situation
16-43 in their last 59 games following a win

Betting Advice
Florida is not a good team off a win and they are horrible when playing the 2nd game of a home-and-home series. Tampa Bay has been slumping of late, but they have been strong on the road vs Florida. Their offense finally woke up and I see it happening again, which should make Ben Bishop vs happy. Look for Tampa Bay to get revenge for Saturday night’s loss.
