Chicago and Vancouver are both money line underdogs on Saturday and they are facing teams that have assembled winning streaks. Can either stop them?

While Chicago no longer wins frequently, they are at least entertaining.

If Blackhawks were a Shakespearean play, it would be titled "We Taketh and Giveth Away".

[/]{"component": "embedHTML", "code": "

Twitter: What’s happening?
Us: pic.twitter.com/6yu8gkW4Bx
— Chicago Blackhawks (@NHLBlackhawks) March 8, 2019
\n\n"}[/]

Chicago still has names from those three Stanley Cups they won between 2010-2015 like Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews. Kane, in particular, is still a major force with 96 points, which is the second-most in the league and he's going to break the century mark for the second time in his illustrious career. Ever the sniper, he's 3rd in goals scored with 40. Toews is not the player he was in his younger days, yet, he has a shot of reaching his highest point total ever of 76, sitting at 69.

Chicago is 8th in scoring and fun to watch. Defensively, the Hawks are painful to view, ranked last in the league in allowing pucks in the cage with a 3.78 average. When you surrender that many goals, it's not one player or position that is the problem, it is everything and everyone. However, those making NHL picks on totals love Chicago, as they are on an impossible to imagine 22-1-1 Over streak.

The Blackhawks are playing their complete opposite in Dallas and they are +145 road underdogs. The Stars are 29th scoring and 3rd in defense and are the second-best Under wager at 39-20-8.

Dallas has won four in a row to stay in the postseason chase. No question Chicago has a punchers chance because they can score, but even when they do they give it right back. With the Hawks 2-15 revenging a home loss, close but no cigar for them.

Vegas (37-26-5, 37-31 SU) at Vancouver (28-31-9, 28-40 SU)

Saturday, 10:05 pm ET (ESPN+)

Free NHL Pick: Golden Knights ML

Best Line Offered: You Wager

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3493307, "sportsbooksIds":[139,999996,238,19,93], "LineTypeId":2, "PeriodTypeId":1}[/]

Vancouver Comes Up Short Again

After staggering around after the All-Star break like a patron at one of the clubs on The Strip, Vegas has gotten their legs back and reeled off five consecutive wins. Those setting the NHL odds for their Pacific Division game in Vancouver have the Golden Knights at -165.

The Canucks would appear in a nasty spot, only made worse by how Vegas is playing. Vancouver has four victories in their last 16 trips to the rink and to borrow an old phrase and change the words slightly, "The Canucks play good enough to lose."

Because hockey scoring is one goal at a time, there are a plethora of one-goal outcomes and often that can be the difference in a winning or losing season. During this stretch for Vancouver, they have played 11 one-goal games and come short eight times. Of those 11 contests, they have played six opposing teams dead even for three periods, which is sort of good and they are 3-3 in OT.

That could be viewed as positive, yet the fact remains coach Travis Green's club has one regulation time victory in 16 tries and that isn't good.

This is Vancouver eighth contest versus the Knights and they are 1-6 and winless at Rogers Arena against them in three attempts. Make it four.
