With five games on tap tonight, the cappers at SBR Forum look to unlock the best value on offer for your NHL picks.

Columbus Blue Jackets @ Carolina Hurricanes 7:05 PM ET

Columbus comes off a shocking 5-2 home loss on Saturday at the hands of the Buffalo Sabres. The loss snapped a terrific 8-game winning streak for the Jackets. Rest assured Columbus won’t take the Carolina Hurricanes lightly tonight, and will be in a sour mood against a Carolina team who’s playing very well right now. The Jackets have created plenty of offensive pressure of late, generating 30 or more shots on goal in each of their last 6-games.  Columbus is a very respectable 12-13 versus the money line on the road this season, including 3-0 in the last 3, and 6-2 in their last 8.

Carolina has gone just 12-15 versus the money line at home in 2013-2014. For whatever reason, and for what it’s worth, the Hurricanes are 0-9 in their last 9-games played on a Monday. Carolina is also a dismal 10-25 against the money in their last 35-games versus an opponent with a winning record. The Hurricanes have also lost their last 7-games in a row to the Blue Jackets.

NHL Betting System

For our NHL picks in this matchup we will look to a strong betting trend which states that any money line road underdog playing in the 2nd half of the season that allows their opponents any average of 4 or less power play chances per game, and has had 30 or more shots on goal in each of their last 5-games has gone 45-26 (63.4%) over the last 5 seasons.

Free Pick: Columbus +100 over Carolina

Boston Bruins @ New York Islanders 7:05 PM ET

Granted the Islanders have played much better of late. However, this is still a club that’s gone just 8-18 versus the money line at home this season, including 3-11 in their last 14. In addition they’ve allowed 21-goals combined over their last 5-games. They will be facing an opponent (Boston) tonight that’s #2 in the NHL in scoring defense, and has a plethora of skilled offensive players that will expose the Islanders defensively.

Boston is coming of a 6-1 blowout win over Philadelphia on Saturday. Boston is a perfect 8-0 the last 2 seasons following a road win by 3-goals or more winning by an average of 2.2 goals per game. Boston is an extremely profitable 30-12 against the money line in their last 42-games versus an Eastern Conference opponent, and 8-1 in the last 9 versus Metropolitan Division foes.

NHL Betting System

Any NHL odds favorite, versus an opponent that averages 2.8 or more goals per game, and that opponent has seen 7 or more goals scored by both teams combined in each of their last 3-games, has gone 72-23 (75.8%) over the last 5 seasons.

Free Pick: Bruins -130 over the Islanders
