Monday’s a quiet day in the NHL, so we’ve got one article for you covering both games. Here’s a closer look at the two contests that we feel are worth adding to your NHL picks.

Record: 79-90 (-602)

Boston Bruins vs. Ottawa Senators

The Boston Bruins are a sizable road favorite on Monday and while you might not want to lay the juice, it would be tough to bet against them. The B’s have quietly won eight of 10. While they don’t get as much attention as the Montreal Canadiens or the Chicago Blackhawks, the Bruins have just three regulation losses this season. They are 16-3-3 and have picked up 35 points in just 22 games. Montreal leads the Eastern Conference with just three more points but they have played four more games.

It’s hard to bet Ottawa in this spot knowing that Boston has won nine straight in Ottawa and has won 11 of 12 in this series overall.

However, I don’t like the juice and the fact that Ottawa has won five straight at home further deters me from the Bruins. Laying the puck line also doesn’t make sense as Ottawa hasn’t lost by two goals in any of their last 10 games.

Under is the way I’ll look with our NHL picks here. The under has cashed three straight times in this series and 17 times in 22 games for Ottawa this season.

Calgary Flames vs. Los Angeles Kings

The Calgary Flames and Los Angeles Kings will play for the second time in three nights at the Staples Center. Yes, the schedule this shortened season has been quite odd.

The first meeting resulted in the Kings pummeling the Flames 6-2. The Kings were about -210 favorites on the NHL odds for that contest and now they are at about the same price for Monday. At this point, I think my outlook on the game would be about the same as it was two nights ago when I liked the Kings -1.5.

The Kings are 8-1-1 in their last 10 at home. They are a strong, physical defensive team and when they score goals, they win. Their offense is cooking these days – especially Jeff Carter – and that’s why the Kings have won 10 of 13 overall.

The Flames are a bunch of bums. They are small, they are soft and they are slow. They’ve lost five straight on the road and while they say they are placing extra urgency on this contest (since their playoff hopes are dwindling by the day), I don’t know that there’s much they can do.

Miikka Kiprusoff gave up all six goals against the Kings on Saturday and has now coughed up 10 goals on just 46 shots in his last two games. Sadly, he gives the team their best shot to win because if Joey MacDonald is in net, this won’t be much of a contest.

I’m not going to lay the juice, but the puck line sounds like the right choice for our sports picks tonight.

NHL Pick: Kings -1.5 +147 at Pinnacle
