Free NHL picks for a few of tonight's largest matchups. Where do we believe the best value lies for your hockey betting selections tonight?

Monday’s NHL card features four NHL games on the radar. We’ll start with a pair of eastern time zone contests with the Tampa Bay-Pittsburgh matchup being highlighted on NBC Sports Network and then we’ll follow it up with two west coast games with the Nashville-Los Angeles matchup getting the spotlight on NHL Network.

Record: 66-78 (-938)

Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Pittsburgh Penguins

We start with an Eastern Conference matchup between Tampa Bay and Pittsburgh. The Lightning visit the Penguins on Monday and I see two options for our NHL picks in this game

On one hand, with Tampa Bay, the over is always in play. They have given up 48 goals in their last 14 games and now they’ll face the top offensive teams in the league in Pittsburgh. The Penguins have scored 77 goals this season, which is the most in the NHL.

The Lightning are set to go with Mathieu Garon on Monday and he’s just 2-7-0 on the season with a 2.86 GAA.

I see both sides being able to score goals in this contest, which should bring us to at least six goals, and given the fact that the NHL odds makers are asking for six, I believe that we have some value on offer here.

I’ll also lay the puck line with Pittsburgh. The Pens have won four straight in this series while outscoring the Lightning 23-9. I like their chances in this spot – especially when you consider Tampa Bay is just 3-7-0 on the road this year.

Nashville Predators vs. Los Angeles Kings

The Nashville Predators have lost four of five surprisingly, much of the blame falls on goaltender Pekka Rinne. Normally a Vezina-caliber goaltender, Rinne has allowed 15 goals in his last four starts.

Even so, the Los Angeles Kings are not a high-scoring team and Rinne has already put forth two stellar efforts against them this season. He stopped 23 of 24 shots in a 2-1 win on January 31st and then stopped all 32 shots in a 3-0 shutout win on February 7th.

When you add that in with how well the Kings have played defensively (other than Saturday’s performance) and how much the Preds have been struggling to score, and you’ve got yourself an under.

NHL Pick: Under 5 at Bovada
