The Leafs have outplayed Boston in two straight games, but can they possibly do it again and shock the world? Find out where we believe that bettors should look with their NHL picks in this situation.
The Toronto Maple Leafs can win because…
Momentum is on their side. For two straight games, the Maple Leafs have looked great and dominated all facets of the game. Goaltender James Reimer has been phenomenal – stopping 72 of 74 shots in the last two games – and the team has been playing with tons of confidence.
The biggest issue for Boston is that they looked out of gas by the end of Game 6 and now the two teams have to play a back-to-back in Game 7. The Leafs are younger, fresher and are playing like they have nothing to lose. That’s the perfect recipe for pulling the stunner.
The Boston Bruins can win because…
They are the more experienced team. If you recall, this Boston team played in three Game 7’s en route to their Stanley Cup win just a couple of years ago. They know what to expect. As for Toronto, very few – if any – of their players have been in this position.
The Bruins haven’t played a complete, 60-minute game since Game 3 or 4, but that can be encouraging in some ways. It means that if they play their best and the Leafs play their best, they likely win. All they have to do is show up and put their best foot forward.
Outlook & Pick
NHL bettors should know that the Leafs are worth a look here. They should be nervous, but they are so young and inexperienced, that they don’t even know what they don’t know. The Bruins looked old and slow in Game 6 and there’s little reason to believe that will change on short notice in Game 7. Having gone over the NHL odds, I say we take a shot with the Leafs.
