After having their 3-game winning streak snapped in a 3-2 home loss versus New Jersey on Tuesday, the Rangers bounced back with an impressive 1-0 road win at the Belle Centre in Montreal last night. The Rangers 26-year old rookie backup goaltender Cameron Talbot recorded his first ever NHL shutout, stopping all 22 of Montreal’s shots on goal. Talbot is now 4-1 this season with an excellent 1.53 GAA and a .943 save percentage. The win snapped an 8-game losing streak in Montreal.  The veteran Henrik Lundquist will be back between the pipes tonight. Lundquist has posted a terrific 1.73 GAA in 7 home starts this season. The Rangers enter tonight having won 7 of the last 9-games.

Hail to the Kings

This will be the Kings final game of a 4-game in 6-day road trip that’s seen them go 2-1 thus far. After opening the trip with a disappointing 3-2 overtime shutout loss at Buffalo, the Kings rebounded by winning their next 2. They defeated the Islanders 3-2 on Tuesday, and in their most recent game shutout New Jersey 2-0 on Friday. Ben Scrivens recorded his 2nd shutout of the season in just 4-starts during the 2-0 win at New Jersey. Scrivens will be counted on to carry the load for now after #1 goaltender Jonathan Quick was sidelined with a groin injury sustained in the opening game of the road trip in Buffalo. Scrivens has posted an excellent 1.51 GAA and .940 save percentage this season. The Kings enter tonight having won 4 of their last 5, and 12 of the last 17.

Inside the Kings Numbers

  • The Kings are 7-18 in their last 25 road games, including 6-20 in the last 26 when facing an opponent with a winning record.
  • The Kings are 23-9 in their last 32-games after scoring 2-goals or less in their previous game.
  • The Kings have gone over the total in just 14 of their last 52-games versus an Eastern Conference opponent.
  • The Kings have gone over the total in just 6 of their last 26 road games.

NHL Totals Super Angle

Any road team that’s revenging a same season loss as a favorite, and they’re coming off a road shutout win has seen 32 of those 41-games (78%) go under the total since the beginning of the 1996-1997 season.

Free Pick: Kings/Rangers to go under the total of 5.0.
