Stanley Cup final moves over to Chicago tonight for Game 3. While there are all sorts of NHL picks for the sides and totals, we’re going to take a quick look at some props for the game.
Most Goals Scored In Game 3
Patrick Sharp vs Nikita Kucherov
This prop seems like a bit of a mismatch. The Greek has these guys matched up on the NHL odds but they aren’t of the same caliber. In previous years, Patrick Sharp was a much more dangerous offensive weapon but he only had 16 goals and 27 assists in the regular season. In the playoffs, he has just four goals and three of them came in the first round. He hasn’t scored since Game 2 of the second round.
Most Points Scored In Game 3
Brent Seabrook vs Anton Stralman
Another prop that looks like a mismatch to me is the Stralman versus Seabrook total points. Stralman does have an offensive aspect to his game but he’s not in the same realm as Seabrook. Stralman had two points in the opening round, three in the second round, two in the seven-game series with the New York Rangers and has an assist so far in the Stanley Cup finals. In comparison, Seabrook had five points in the conference final and has a point in this series.
The other factor here is the ice time. Seabrook will be on the ice more as he has through the first two games. He’s played 55:06 in the Stanley Cup finals so far while Stralman has had over five minutes less at 49:50.
Will The Team Who Scores First Win The Game?
The Blackhawks have had a steady trend so far this postseason with the team that scores first in their games goes on to win. Every single game of the conference final versus Anaheim was decided in that fashion as the team that scored first won all seven games. The same was true in the conference semifinals when the Blackhawks swept the Minnesota Wild in four games. They scored first each time.
As for the Lightning, the team that scored first won the game in six of their seven games in the conference finals. In the second round, the team that scored first won five of the six games. And in their opening round, that stat rang true in six of the seven games.
So far in the Stanley Cup finals, the team that scored first is 1-1 but other than that, it’s 17-3 in the Lightning’s 20 games this postseason and for the Blackhawks, the team that’s scored first has won 11 straight times (not including the Cup finals). This looks like a good prop to bet on.
