Blues try to keep pace with the Dallas Stars as they face the Rangers who only have a three point lead on the third place New York Islanders. See our top NHL Pick for the game.

N.Y. Rangers vs. St. Louis Blues
The St.Louis Blues have had to deal with injuries all season and they have always been able to overcome them.

Just when they got their goaltending tandem back, Brian Elliot goes down exiting in the first period against San Jose with a lower body injury and leaving Jake Allen to carry the load. This is a revenge spot for Allen who was pulled against the Rangers after allowing 3 goals on 5 shots in just 14:38 of work back in November. Despite that loss Allen has been fantastic on home ice with a 11-6-1 record with a 1.96 goals against average in 18 starts at the Scottstrade Center.

Jaden Schwartz, Kevin Shattenkirk, Paul Stastny, Allen, and Patrik Berglund have all missed at least 10 games this season yet the Blues are still just three points out of first place in the Central. A division that most have given to the Backhawks or Stars.

Blues second leading scorer, Alexander Steen, sustained an upper body injury Saturday at Arizona. The Blues should be able to pick for the Steen loss because their forwards are playing exceptionally well led by Vladimir Tarasenko who has five points in his last two games while David Backes has scored in two straight games. Since his return Jaden Schwartz has 4 goals and 2 assist in six games since returning from a fractured ankle. Steen is expected to be out a month.

The Rangers have their own injuries to overcome. Captain Ryan McDonagh and Marc Staal didn't play in the 5-2 loss to the New Jersey Devils, Tuesday. The Rangers were out shot 36-19 while being completely dominated. In the second period New York was out shot 17-5 when they allowed two of the Devils four straight goals. It was the worst period of hockey the Rangers have played all season. McDonagh could return today but most likely Saturday. Let's check the latest trends and the NHL odds boards

Betting Analysis
For me the Rangers are a difficult team to figure out because they are definitely good enough to make the playoffs but not considered a team that could make a run at the playoffs which puts a lot of uncertainty in the air as the trade deadline looms.

They are in desperate need of a player that can improve their power play but beside that will probably sit tight this deadline. With their injuries it would be irresponsible to get rid of Keith Yandle at this point. A few weeks ago it seemed certain that Yandle would be moved but now with McDonagh out they cant.

Rangers Goaltender, Henrik Lundqvist, is 2-4 lifetime against St.Louis but it should be noted that he has won his last two.

For my NHL pick, we are going against the Rangers until they can show a little more consistency on the road. They have now lost 14 of their last 20 road games. The Blues have historically been terrific against teams with a losing road record going 50-18 in their last 68 games.
