“The Shark Tank”

The San Jose Sharks have been extremely tough at home this season losing just 1 of their first 10-games in regulation time, and earning 16 of 20 possible points. The Sharks enter tonight winners in 5 of their last 6-games. San Jose has earned at least 1-point in 20 of their 23-games this season. This is a team that has played well on both ends of the ice. They’ve averaged 3.4 goals per game good for 3rd best in the NHL, and allowed an average of just 2.1 goals per contest which is 5th best in the league. San Jose is also tops in the NHL averaging 35.6 shots on goal per game. This will be the 3rd of a 5-games home stand that’s seen the Sharks go 2-0 thus far.

Road Warriors

The Los Angeles Kings have been one of the better road teams in the NHL to this point of the season. They’ve earned 17 of 24 points possible away from the friendly confines of the Staples Center. This is in stark contrast from a season ago when they were virtually unbeatable at home, but less than stellar on the road. The big story for the Kings right now has been the play of backup goalie Ben Scrivens who has had to fill in for the injured Jonathan Quick. In 10 starts this season Scrivens has been absolutely magnificent in posting an excellent 1.44 GAA, a brilliant .947 save percentage, and has 3 shutouts. The Kings have lost only 1 of those 10-games in regulation time this season with Scrivens as their starter. The Kings come off a 3-2 overtime win at Vancouver on Monday. The Kings trailed 2-1 late in the game, and Mike Richards was able to get the equalizer with just 2:54 remaining in the 3rd period. Anze Kopitar scored the winner at 0:48 of overtime.
