The Los Angeles Kings are starting to resemble the team that won the Stanley Cup last season. Can They put the 3rd nail in the San Jose Sharks' icy coffin?

Goaltender Jonathan Quick is playing out of his mind as he’s given up just nine goals in his last six games while the Kings offense has come to life. Urgency will side with the Sharks in Game 3 but do you really want to back the known playoff chokers in favor of the red-hot Kings?

The Los Angeles Kings can win because…

They’ve been the better team in this series. Not only has their defense been able to muzzle the Sharks, their offense has done plenty against what was supposed to be a stellar Sharks unit.

The Kings are on fire right now as they enter Saturday’s affair on a six-game winning streak. Over those six games, they’ve looked like a focused team who wants to repeat as Stanley Cup champs and you know what, they might be the first team in a long time that’s capable of doing it.

The Sharks are not on the same playing field here. They’ve scored three goals in two games with a number of those goals being lucky. The Kings know just how to close this thing out and we’ll see them put their foot on the Sharks throats on Saturday.

The San Jose Sharks can win because…

Home-ice advantage will be quite significant in this series. NHL odds makers know that, which is why the Sharks are a -130 favorite even though they are down 2-0 in the series.

San Jose posted the best home record in the Western Conference through the regular season and they have yet to lose at home in the playoffs. Goaltender Antti Niemi performed a bit better in front of the home audience this season as he was 16-2-4 at home with a 1.83 GAA and a .934 save percentage compared to 8-10-2, 2.56 and .912 when away.

Desperation is on the Sharks side. We saw them play better in Game 2 and people making their NHL picks should expect them to show up with their best effort in Game 3.

Outlook & Pick

Remember: must win does not mean will win. The Sharks really need this game can you trust them? The Kings are playing their best hockey of the season and should be able to stymie the Sharks offense once more. Unless the Kings offense doesn’t show up, they’ll be moving ahead 3-0 in this series.
