The game is slated to get underway at 7 p.m. (PT) and it will be available on NHL Center Ice and locally on TSN.

Kings Betting Overview

The defending Stanley Cup champs have battled their way back from a miserable start to even their record on the year at 6-6-2 with three wins in their last four games. The Kings are coming off a 3-1 victory over Edmonton this past Tuesday as 116 road favorites. The total has now stayed UNDER or ended as a PUSH in their six games.

Los Angeles is still having trouble finding the back of the net with an average of just 2.3 goals a game, but it is finding ways to win games behind a defense that is holding teams to an average of 2.6 goals on the other end of the ice. The Kings have allowed just six goals in their last four games with both Jonathan Quick and Jonathan Bernier splitting time in goal. Quick has started the last two but remains unconfirmed as the starter for tonight’s contest.

Flames Betting Overview

The Flames come into this matchup with just two victories in their last six games. A 4-0 shutout loss to Phoenix this past Monday dropped them to 5-6-3 on the year. They are just 2-4-2 at home this season and the total has gone OVER in three of their last four games. Behind a very streaky offense, Calgary has scored a combined 11 goals in those two wins and just four goals in the four losses.

Curtis Glenncross leads the team with six goals and the Flames have four other players with at least four goals this season, but unfortunately many of them have come in bunches and not on a night to night basis when they need them the most. Calgary continues to take advantage of the power play; scoring on 26 percent of its chances which is the third-best percentage in the NHL. The main problem has been on defense with a goals-against-average of 3.4. With goalie Miikka Kiprusoff still nursing sore knee, look for Joey MacDonald or Leland Irving to get the start in this one. Both are struggling with a GAA over three and a save percentage under 90 percent.

Kings vs. Flames- NHL Betting Odds and Trends

BetOnline has opened Los Angeles as 114 road favorite on their NHL odds boards with the Flames listed as 103 home underdogs. The total for this game has been set at 5.5.

The Kings are 5-2 in their last seven games in the third of a ‘three games in four nights’ situation. They are 7-3 in their last 10 games against the Northwest Division and the total has gone OVER in three of their last four games on no day’s rest.

The Flames are 1-4 in their last five home games and 5-11 in their last 16 games playing on one day’s rest. The total has gone OVER in four of their last six games against the Pacific Division.

The road team in this series has won the last four meetings and the total has stayed UNDER in five of the last seven games played in Calgary. Los Angeles is 5-2 in the last seven meetings.

Kings vs. Flames Prediction

Normally there would be a concern with a team playing back-to-back nights on the road, but the Kings are clearly returning to the form that led them to a title last season, especially on defense. The game will remain low-scoring and tight until the end making the UNDER an attractive option, but the free NHL pick in this contest remains with Los Angeles to get the win.
