It looks like home-ice actually does provide an advantage. For two straight games, the home team has won, which leads us to a deciding Game 7. Can the Los Angeles Kings cash on the NHL odds and win a second consecutive Game 7 on the road?

The Los Angeles Kings Can Win Because…
They’ve finally solved John Gibson. The Ducks rookie goaltender stymied the Kings in his first start in Game 4, showed some cracks in the armor in Game 5, and then was beaten in Game 6. That’ll give the Kings confidence for Game 7.

More importantly than the fact that they won Game 6 was the fact that Gibson didn’t play particularly well. The second goal was a very weak wrister that beat him five-hole. That proved to be the game-winner. The Ducks lose confidence when their goaltenders start to let them down, and Gibson is no longer a sure thing. Meanwhile, the Kings have Quick, and that should be the difference.

The Anaheim Ducks Can Win Because…
The Kings barely hung on in Game 6. Anaheim has had momentum in this series for three of the last four games, and that’ll come back in Game 7. Even in Game 6, the Kings barely escaped with a 2-1 win; it’s not as if it was a dominant performance.

The Ducks simply need to make more of their power play opportunities. Throughout their series they went 4-for-8 in Games 3, 4 and 5, but went 0-for-5 in Game 6. If they can take advantage of those special teams opportunities, they’ll be in good shape.

Outlook & Pick
The difference in net is too significant. You have a rookie goalie who looked shaky in Game 6 versus all-world goaltender Jonathan Quick. Who are you taking with your NHL picks? I’ll go with the Kings as experience and pedigree are definitely in their favor.
