Our NHL odds consultant breaks down Tuesday’s game between the Kings and Flyers. Join us in reading this insightful betting preview article that concludes with his money line NHL pick.

Kings for a Day in “City of Brotherly Love”
Philadelphia and Los Angeles square off in a NHL non-conference battle on Tuesday. The opening faceoff at the First Union Center in Philadelphia is slated for 7:05 PM ET. Current NHL odds (11:35 AM ET) at BetOnline.com show Los Angeles as a -141 money line favorite, and the posted total of 5.0. This will be the first meeting of the year between these clubs, and Philadelphia won both encounters a season ago.

Rolling Since Rough Start
Los Angeles opened the season with three straight losses, and all of those games took place on home ice. Since that time, they’ve won eleven of their last fourteen games. Tuesday will be the first of a five game in nine day road trip for the Kings. They’ve gone a stellar 4-1 on the road so far, and had a sizable +1.6 goal per game differential. The Kings have played twelve of their first seventeen games at home. They’ll now endure a stretch in which they play fifteen of their next twenty games on the road. At the time of this writing, Jonathan Quick was expected to be in goal today for Los Angeles. Quick has gone 8-6 this season with a solid .911 save percentage.

Floundering Flyers
Steve Mason is expected to start his third game in a row for Philadelphia on Tuesday. Mason has gone 3-7 this season with a .895 save percentage. He made one start versus Los Angeles last year and stopped 37 of 38 shots on goal during a 2-1 Flyers win. Despite coming off a 3-2 road win over Carolina in their last game, Philadelphia is a dismal 2-8 during its previous ten. The Flyers enter tonight having lost four home games in a row.

Final Thoughts and Pick
One team has been extremely good on the road (Kings), and the other (Flyers) has recently struggled at home. Sometimes it’s advantageous to just keep things simple. That’s exactly what I intend to do when making one of my NHL picks for Tuesday.
