We’re going to examine Thursday’s intriguing NHL game between the Kings & Sharks. Go inside to read our reasoning for liking a money line NHL pick in this contest.

Pacific Division Battle in San Jose
The Sharks and Kings will meet for the second time this season on Thursday. The opening faceoff in San Jose is slated for 10:35 PM ET. According to NHL odds at Bovada, San Jose is a -110 money line favorite, and the posted total is 5.

Kings on the Rebound
After a brutal start which saw the Kings lose their first three games, and all of those coming on home ice, they’ve rebounded to win their last two contests by identical 2-1 scores. It’s by no coincidence that Jonathan Quick has played extremely well during those two wins after a horrible beginning to the year, and especially so by his standards. Quick stopped 59-of-61 shots on goal in those victories. The Kings will be out to avenge an opening night 5-1 loss against San Jose, and they’ll be playing tonight on 3 days of rest.

Back at “The Shark Tank”
San Jose has begun the year by playing five of their first six games on the road. As a matter of fact, they return home for the first time after embarking on a four game in eight day road trip. The Sharks have came back down to earth after a terrific 4-0 start. They’ve dropped each of their last two games, and were outscored in those contests by a cumulative margin of 10-3. It must be noted, the Sharks have gone 0-5 at home since last season following a road loss by 2 goals or more, and were outscored by an average of 2.0 goals per game. By the way, San Jose is coming off a 4-0 defeat at Madison Square Garden against the Rangers in their previous game.

NHL Money Line Angle
Any team (Kings) coming off wins in each of their previous two games by one goal on each occasion, and they’ll be playing on 3 or more days of rest, resulted in that team going 42-18 (70%) against the money line since 1996. This money line betting strategy will be part of the handicapping arsenal when making my NHL picks for today.
