Surviving the Schedule and Transition

The Rangers have survived an early brutal schedule that saw them play their first 9-games of the season on the road. In addition they were still adjusting on the fly to a brand new coaching staff lead by former Vancouver bench boss Alain Vigneault. Backup goaltender Cameron Talbot has been a pleasant surprise so far. Since being called up from the AHL earlier this season, Talbot has gone 6-1 in 7 starts with a terrific 1.49 GAA, and an excellent .944 save percentage. Talbot was in goal in Saturday’s 5-2 home win over Vancouver stoppinjtlue Shirts” matched their season high in which they’ve accomplished on 3 other occasions. The Rangers have won 11 of their last 17-games heading into tonight’s game.

Turbulence for the Jets

It hasn’t exactly been a smooth ride for the Jets this season as they continue to battle inconsistencies. Tonight will mark the 4th of a 6-game in 13-day road trip for Winnipeg. They’ve gone 2-1 thus far on the trip, and dropped their last game 2-1 on Friday versus the Philadelphia Flyers. They’ve gone under the total in each of the first 3-games of the road trip. One area of the utmost concern has been the power play. Winnipeg is converting on just 11.5% of their man advantage opportunities which ranks a dismal 28th in the NHL. The Jets are 5-1 in their last 6-games versus Eastern Conference opponents.
