Winnipeg Jets vs. Anaheim Ducks
When a team with a ten home game winning streak (the Anaheim Ducks) comes up against a team who have yet to lose under their new head coach (Winnipeg Jets) something’s gotta give, but you can still win $$$$ if you listen to your Humble Handicapper’s tips.
The Duck’s may have lost their Friday night outing (a 4-2 away defeat against Chicago) but at home they tend to win, win and win again, and should they do the business over Winnipeg they’ll be on an 11 game streak.
For the record the Ducks did win their subsequent (and most recent) away game, a 3-2 victory over St Louis on Saturday.
That’s pretty typical for the Ducks as they tend to win more often than lose with 19 victories from their last 21 games. And everyone should know that before that Chicago defeat the Ducks were on an eight game winning streak.
This is as good a time as any to point out that Anaheim are at best odds of +900 to win the Stanley cup this term, that’s about fourth favourite with the sportsbooks.
Enough with the Ducks’ winning ways…WHERE’S THE MONEY MIKE?
If you want to talk money you still have to talk about the Anaheim! The Ducks are on a 90-39 goal advantage at home and won a club-record 13 in row at home last season.
And just to finish off the stats lets mention that the Ducks are 20-0-2 at the Honda Center.
The best NHL odds of the Ducks extending their run are -240 while the Jets taking the game is at +200.
Taking that as read, it’s interesting to note that the Ducks winning by three or more goals is the shortest winning margin score. That’s at +200, while the Ducks by two is at +450. The Jets winning by a single goals is the bookies’ favourite odds on them winning and that’s at +800.
Long story short the Ducks are going to win and they are going to win at a canter, do I need to remind you that in their last home game the Ducks stuffed Vancouver 9-1.
Bet on goals
On that not it’s an obvious bet to say “back goals”. The bookies seem convinced that we will see them, Over 5.5 is at -135, Over 3.5 is at -700 and even Over 7.5 is at +275.
You’d need a decent pair (or a hefty stake) to make some real money backing those hockey bets. Still, a sure thing is still a sure thing (but they never pay well).
Looking at just the correct score odds they all say the Ducks will win. The sportsbooks have the Ducks winning 3-2 and 4-3 at +900 and +1100 (respectively) so maybe have a decent punt at the Ducks winning by a goal at +550.
But your Humble Handicapper thinks it will be more one sided than that (but still a Ducks win for our NHL pick).Prediction: Anaheim Ducks win 4-2 at best hockey odds of +1400 with SkyBet.
