The New York Islanders visit to Boston on Tuesday presents us with the biggest mismatch of the 11-game card…at least according to the odds makers. The Bruins are a -220, which is easiest the most juice you’ll have to lay on a favorite. Are they worth the price, though?

Be sure to check out our NHL Picks fo the Day.

The New York Islanders Can Win Because…

You can’t lay this type of juice on the NHL odds given the Bruins injuries. Boston just lost defenseman Dennis Seidenberg for the season while Zdeno Chara and Dougie Hamilton are questionable for Tuesday’s affair. The team is also without forward Loui Eriksson.

The loss of Seidenberg is a big hit to a team that relies on defense to get the job done. If Chara is out as well, the Isles might have the opening they need to cash for your sports picks

The Boston Bruins Can Win Because…

They have been unbeatable at home. They’ve won eight straight at home and have won their last three by a combined score of 11-1. They are simply outclassing their opponents at the TD Garden. Goaltender Tuukka Rask has been outstanding in front of the home audience as he’s 10-0-2 with a 1.31 GAA in his last 12 at home.

This is just a complete mismatch. The Bruins are 13-7 against teams with a losing record this season while the Isles are 3-11 against teams with a winning record.

Outlook & Pick

The Isles have won three straight on the road, which includes wins in New York (Rangers), Detroit and Minnesota. The Wild are one of the best home teams in the NHL, so bettors should take note of that win by the Isles.

However, I’ll stick with the under here. The Bruins are banged up and are laying way too much juice, while the Isles are too shaky to trust on the road. Instead, I’ll go with the under for my NHL picks. Rask is awesome at home while Evgeni Nabokov has been strong for the Isles since returning from a groin injury, posting a 1.97 GAA in his last six.

Pick: Under 5.5 at Bookmaker
