Welcome to Wednesday in the NHL where we’ll see just four games on the docket. We’ve got them all covered for you here with short thoughts on three of the games down below.

NHL Betting: Wednesday Picks

Record: 125-144 (-1112)

Montreal Canadiens at Pittsburgh Penguins

The Canadiens and Penguins have very different goals this Wednesday. The Habs need a win to maintain their second seed in the East while the Pens don’t have a whole lot to play for. However, Pittsburgh hasn’t showed any signs of taking their foot off the gas as they’ve won four straight. As for the Habs, they’ve lost two in a row

Peter Budaj will be in net for the Habs as Carey Price has been a gong show recently. Budaj has been standing on his head recently as he’s allowed just eight goals in his last six. Pittsburgh probably wins this game but it’s really a toss-up, so I’ll take a flier on the under.

Pick: Under 5.5 at Bodog for this hockey pick.

Buffalo Sabres at Boston Bruins

Laying -205 on the NHL odds with Boston makes sense in some respect because Buffalo stinks and has nothing to play for anyways. However, Boston has lost two straight and three of five. Buffalo has won two straight and five of seven, so they might be game.

I’m not attracted to either side here as I don’t see value one way or another. If you like Boston, you can take a shot on the puck line – they have won by two or more in their two wins against Buffalo this season – but I’ll take the under here and hope that two decent goaltenders can take us there.

Pick: Under 5 at Bovada

Detroit Red Wings at Calgary Flames

The Detroit Red Wings have just one win in their last four, yet you have to pay -150 to add them to your NHL picks on Wednesday. On top of that, they are playing on the road where they have also lost three of four.

Calgary might be a good option here as a long shot as they have won two of three. They’ve already topped the Red Wings twice this season while scoring nine goals in the process. Much has changed since then but Calgary as a home dog is more attractive than Detroit as a massive road favorite.

Pick: Flames +141 at Pinnacle
