NHL Betting: Sunday Picks
We’ve singled out the Bruins-Penguins matchup in an individual article and in our daily picks, we’ll take a look at the NHL odds for the other three contests.
Record: 86-98 (-735)
Winnipeg Jets at Ottawa Senators
The Winnipeg Jets have some momentum going as they’ve won four of five and are now 9-3-1 in their last 13 games. Surprisingly, a lot of that damage has been done on the road where they are 6-2-1 in their last nine.
Normally, with Ottawa involved, my first thought would be under but when you look at their recent trends, they haven’t had an under in seven games. Each of their last seven have seen at least five goals. I’ll bank on that continuing on Sunday as the NHL odds makers have set a total of five.
NHL Pick: Over 5 at Bovada
Buffalo Sabres at Washington Capitals
Talk about an ugly game for NHL betting purposes. The Capitals have lost four of five while the Sabres have lost five of six. Washington has lost two straight at home while Buffalo has lost four straight on the road.
The side play looks like a complete gong show – good luck to you if you’re betting on either side – but I will instead go with the under for this NHL Pick. Good luck to me too.
NHL Pick: Under 5.5 at Bodog
Nashville Predators at Edmonton Oilers
This isn’t a game that I particularly want to bet but Nashville is pretty fatigued at this point and Edmonton could be worth a shot. The Preds are in the midst of a Canadian west coast road trip. They played in Vancouver on Thursday, Calgary on Friday and now play on Edmonton on Sunday. They also played in Dallas on Thursday.
Nashville isn’t very good to begin with as they have just four wins in their last 14. Also, their goaltending situation is a bit of a mess right now, so I’ll take a flier with the Oil Can.
NHL Pick: Oilers -119 at Pinnacle[gameodds]7/221676/43/us[/gameodds]
