After a quiet Friday night, the schedule flips to Saturday where we have a full slate of 12 contests. All but six of the league’s 30 teams are in action, so here are our daily previews and predictions.

Record: 53-59 (-430)

Colorado Avalanche at Los Angeles Kings

The Avs and Kings get together on Sunday and I expect this to be a low scoring game. The Kings have been playing well recently and as you would expect, that means their defense has been strong. They’ve allowed just seven goals in their last five games and haven’t played in a game where the combined goal total was more than five in seven straight games.

The Avs seem to have the Kings number as they’ve held the Kings to exactly one goal in four straight meetings. Goaltender Semyon Varlamov has a 1.77 GAA against them in five starts.

Tampa Bay Lightning at Carolina Hurricanes

The NHL odds makers have posted this game with a fairly high total of six and it’s obvious why. Both offenses are pretty good and both teams can’t keep the puck out of the net.

I still like the over as the Hurricanes last six games have averaged 6.7 goals while the Lightning have seen at least six goals in a game in seven straight outings. Take the over.

Toronto Maple Leafs at Ottawa Senators

Although the Ottawa Senators have turned the tide of momentum with three straight wins, I still like the unders in their contests. Seven of their last eight games have seen five goals or less.

Meanwhile, Toronto plays great on the road and their defense has been air tight. Even though they lost 4-2 at Tampa Bay – a high scoring team – on Tuesday, they’ve still allowed just 14 goals in their last nine games.
