Friday’s NHL card features eight games on the schedule with a number of intriguing matchups. The highlight game will be the San Jose Sharks-Chicago Blackhawks contest.

NHL Betting: Friday Picks

This is supposed to be a matchup of two of the best in the West. The Sharks have tailed off after their hot start and enter this contest on a six-game losing streak.

Record: 38-46 (-776)

San Jose Sharks at Chicago Blackhawks

The San Jose Sharks have hit the wall as they’ve lost six straight. One of the teams that thumped them was the Chicago Blackhawks, who creamed them 5-3 in a very entertaining contest. Antti Niemi gave up four goals that game and will probably get bombed again. Meanwhile, Ray Emery is expected in net for the Blackhawks.

Look for the Sharks to be particularly fired up to get a win and get back on track, while the Blackhawks will contribute to the scoring load themselves. Take the over.

NHL Picks: Over 5.5 at Pinnacle

Pittsburgh Penguins at Winnipeg Jets

I think a lot of people will be enticed by the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday night, but for some reason, Winnipeg plays pretty well against them. Instead, I’ll look to take the over in this game as Pittsburgh should do their fair share of scoring with Ondrej Pavelec in net. He has a GAA of 3.28 and a .886 save percentage this season.

Meanwhile, the Jets should be able to thwart Marc-Andre Fleury as they normally do. He had an .897 save percentage against them last season.

Boston Bruins at Buffalo Sabres

The Boston Bruins beat the Buffalo Sabres 3-1 last Sunday, but their previous meeting this season ended up in a 7-4 scoreline. I see the score ended up similarly as they prepare for their third meeting of the season.

The Bruins have scored at least three goals in the two meetings with Buffalo this season and aside from the Sabres last three games going under, their previous six went well over. Ryan Miller doesn’t play well against Boston and as long as we get some help from Buffalo on the score sheet, we should get the over.
