Sundays NHL card features five games on the schedule with a number of them starting early. Make sure you get your NHL picks in early.

The San Jose Sharks-Ottawa Senators and Tampa Bay Lightning-Florida Panthers contests will both start at 5:00 PM ET while the Anaheim Ducks-Columbus Blue Jackets affair starts at 6:00 PM ET.

We’ve singled out the Edmonton Oilers-Los Angeles Kings game in it’s own preview and below we’ve run through three other Sunday contests.

Tampa Bay Lightning @ Florida Panthers

The Florida Panthers have been awful this season but one can say they’ve been more effective at home (2-3-1) than on the road (1-4-0). Combined with the fact that Tampa Bay played last night, we have a clear reason why the Lightning are not favored by more.

However, I still think the Lighting are worth a shot with your sports picks. Florida has lost five of six, which includes three losses at home. They haven’t scored more than two goals in a game in each of their last four. Meanwhile, Tampa Bay is off a pair of confidence-boosting wins and have now won four of five and seven of nine. The Lightning are getting excellent goaltending from Ben Bishop, who is 7-1-0 with a 2.47 GAA and .914 save percentage. Considering the scrubs they’ve tried to ride in previous seasons, Bishop has been a huge upgrade.

They are the better team. Take a shot with them since you don’t have lay that much juice.

NHL Pick: Lightning -113 at Pinnacle's NHL betting odds lines

Anaheim Ducks @ Columbus Blue Jackets

Columbus is starting to put it together as they have won three straight games – all at home – and have been the recipients of excellent goaltending in the process. They have allowed just four goals in their last three after giving up nine during the four-game losing streak that preceded their current winning streak.

The Blue Jackets are a black-and-white team: they are allowing just 1.4 goals per game in their wins but are giving up 3.6 in their losses. They should be able to muzzle a Ducks team that hasn’t done much scoring on the road this season. Anaheim has scored just five goals in their last three road games. Because of those factors, don’t expect much scoring in this one. Take the under.

Free Pick: Under 5.5 at William Hill

Winnipeg Jets @ Colorado Avalanche

People making their sports picks should thoroughly consider the under in this game. The Winnipeg Jets have had a real tough time scoring recently. They’ve totaled just nine goals in their last four games and now have to go up against one of the best defensive teams in the league. The Jets will also be in a back-to-back situation and it will be their third game in four nights.

Colorado is coming off a contest where they gave up two goals in a 4-2 win over the Carolina Hurricanes but they’ve allowed just four goals in their last three games. They have been lights-out defensively. Take the under with your NHL picks.
