It’s our last regular season day of picks (there’s only one game on Sunday), so let’s see if we can make these count.

NHL Betting: Saturday Picks

Actually, these picks will count one way or another, so let’s see if we can make them count in a positive way for our accounts.

Record: 148-163 (-240)

Chicago Blackhawks at St. Louis Blues

The Blues need this game as they try to lock up home-ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs, so you can expect them to show up for this game. Meanwhile, the Blackhawks know their fate, so they might rest players or not play with so much fire.

The play for my NHL picks here is the under. The under has cashed in three of four meetings between the teams this season and with the Blues goaltending and defense hot right now (17 goals allowed in last 12 games), I’ll bank on them to lead us to a low-scoring game once again.

Pick: Under 5 at Will Hill

Vancouver Canucks at Edmonton Oilers

The Oilers had an unexpected outburst on Friday night when they scored six goals in Minnesota. That was a big surprise because they had scored just six goals in their four previous games combined.

So far this season, these two teams have squared off four times and the results have been as follows: five goals, five goals, four goals, four goals. That being the trend, and given that I believe Edmonton’s offense will go back to how it has been all this month, I’ll take the under.

Pick: Under 5 at Bet 365

Nashville Predators at Columbus Blue Jackets

I know the instinct is to take the under on the NHL odds in this spot but for some reason, I think we see a sloppy effort from Columbus. They just finished an impressive six-game road trip where they went 5-1. They beat playoff-bound teams like San Jose, Los Angeles and Anaheim, and now they come home to face the Trashville Predators. Nashville has lost 10 of 11 and 13 of 15.

As a side note, can you believe the Blue Jackets are actually laying -230? Who ever thought we’d see the day? Nonetheless, I like the over in this spot. The Preds haven’t been able to stop anyone and the Blue Jackets might take their foot off the gas after succeeding on such an important road trip.

Pick: Over 5 at Bet365
