NHL Betting: Saturday Picks
Time is ticking on the playoff chases.
Record: 103-108 (+196)
Boston Bruins at Philadelphia Flyers
Although I’m concerned about the Bruins mindset in this spot after they thought they were getting Jarome Iginla and then were rudely surprised, I will still take them in this spot because I think Philadelphia has packed it in. They’ve lost four straight – two of which were at home – and eight of 10.
The Bruins dominate this series anyways as they have won 11 of the last 13 meetings and six straight in Boston.
Pick: Bruins -125 at Pinnacle
Los Angeles Kings at Minnesota Wild
The Wild’s seven-game winning streak ended on Friday night in Dallas and I see the Kings as having some value on the NHL odds with Minnesota in a quick turnaround.
The Wild are a bit of a fraud in my eyes as they are just 2-7 when facing teams with a winning record this season. That means the bulk of the damage done with their 20-12 record (on the NHL odds) has come against weak teams. I’ll take a flier on the Kings.
Pick: Kings +105 at BetOnline
Washington Capitals at Buffalo Sabres
This isn’t a game that I love the most out of my NHL picks but I think Washington is a reasonable bet as a road dog. The Sabres have already lost twice to Washington this season and they’ve been really bad recently. They’ve lost two straight and eight of 12.
It’s not that Washington is that much better but they have won five of eight and three straight on the road. Add in their previous success against the Sabres this year and the fact that they are the underdog and I’ll take a shot.
